My S5 has been built !

Just been told that my S5 has been built and is waiting in the factory for Audi to decide when they are going to 'launch' the car and deliver it to the UK. I was told middle of this month, but they now think it might be end of the month!

Thought S5 people might want to know !

Perfect choice. Great taste, I envy you! You better take lots of pics and give very detailed impressions of the car. I don't have the resources to buy a car of that caliber but it's always pleasing to read impressions anyways. :)

Ordered to the car about 6 months ago. Shouldn't really say this but i think i may have been bumped up the waiting list for two reasons.

1) A friend of mine buys his company fleet cars through them, which is a lot of cars and to keep him sweet they look after people he reccomends to them who order cars. He has since ordered 25 new A5 Diesels.
2) I knew the spec i wanted, gave it to them as soon as they phoned me and i am told that the guys at the dealership are genuinly excited about my car and what i chose. I think they think tey can order a lot of cars from people seeing mine. (the dealership is having an offical A5/S5 Launch party and they want my car as centre piece - obviously roped off so no grubby fingers can get all over my nice new car :jlol: ).

Managed to buy the plate CS 07 AUD today for a couple of hundred quid, which is my initials, the year of the car and obviously AUD - Audi.

All coming togther nicely. Will deff post up a whole load of pictures and a write up. Be very interesting to see what i make of owning my first Audi and how it compares to my M3 SMG which got stolen.

Total price of the car in UK £ is £45,135.00

Picked my car up today. I will post loads more pics when i can, but its absolutely pissing down in London at the moment. Only have a few pics i took in the dealership.http://www.a5oc.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif

Car is stunning visually. Im delighted i went for Black with red seats and all the options are really superb.http://www.a5oc.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Car is not as savage in acceleration as my M3, but i think its a faster car. The power delivery is very smooth but my god it gets up to some speed quickly and it just keeps on going. Not had chance to put in into some bends yet, but did have an interesting 'tangle' with a BMW 335i on the way back, which looked to me to have a hard top on it, not seen one of those before. Suffice to say when i got in front, i stayed in front http://www.a5oc.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Was actually quite glad it was peeing down when i left as i could try out this 4 wheel drive system for the first time. In the wet this car would have eaten my M3 alive. I can do what i like in the Audi, where as in the M3 i was always a little wary if the roads were wet.

ps i have two pics of a Silver S5 if anyone is interested and i also test drove and R8 - which i thought was under-powered but the handling was excellent)

As some here already knew I had my name down for a TT-S but after a brief test-drive in the S5 I was sold on the car, much better to drive than the S4 I use to own and felt even faster than the small power increase would lead one to believe impossible.

Should be loads more pics up in another thread. Sun finally came out. Blue's, Blacks and dark colours will look great on this. I saw a silver one in the showroom and it didnt look special enough, for me anyway.

Sat Nav looks quite good. Well i tested it out getting me home and worked well. I spe'd it really for a resale point of view.
ipod connection is great but like all cars, a blackberry phone does not connect to it via its bluetooth.

Leadie, I'd seriously consider the Nav+ if I was you if only to preserve the residuals as I think 95% of all S5's will have it. It's becoming a must in a £40k plus car.

My wife's S5 in no on the ship so should be with the dealer in a few days. Were are on hols for the 1st couple of weeks of Aug so we have decided to delay delivery till Sept 1st.

We've speced Phanton BLack, Pearl Silver Leather, Nav +, B&O, Parking Advanced (with rear camera), AMI, Keyless Entry, Comfort Pack, Adaptive Lights ('cos i've got them on my RS4), Cruise, Bluetooth, Hill hold etc. Lists at about £47k.

Elstimpo, love the photo's. Enjoy the car. Quattro is a wonderfull thing in the wet. You'll soon get used to leaving M3's for dead in our wonderfull summer weather!!!!

Thanks for the advise, I will talk this over with the dealer as final spec doesn't have to be finalised until mid September.

Did you see a S5 with the Silver Grey Leather interior, all I saw was a swatch of leather from the book combined with the Carbon Fibre trim and I fell in love :love: , but I would have loved to have seen the real thing. As for the exterior, I have had 4 Black cars and I am looking a change, I saw the RS4 in Sprint Blue and loved the way it's curves looked in the sun light and as the A/S5 shape is even more curvy this can only be a good thing.

Leadie, We've not seen the pearl silver yet, apart from the swatch, just like you. My wife already has the silver nappa in her TT, and the swatch was virtually identical so we decided to go with it. We've seen pictures of it too and it looks good. When we ordered ours we hadn't even seen a car so deciding on the trim was difficult so we decided to stick with the std brushed ali. we've since seen the steel mesh which looks great, and based on Elstimpo's photo's the carbon looks good too. We'll just have to see how ours looks, 'cos i'm sure it'd quite simple to swap.
