Got a call from my dealer last week saying my build date was July 2nd and the car will be with my Mid July. Which is great news considering i had been told Sept. Got a nice new number plate for it too CS 07 AUD which was great for only a couple of hundred £.

Been reading some of the reviews from the media on the car on the forum. Have to say, that the opinions of CAR magazine and Top Gear couldn't be different. So all it goes to show is that while some like something, others like something else. I have a Ferrari 360, which i have had for 5 years. Jeremy Clarkson never liked the car and made a lot of comments about its handling, especially at high speeds. Well i have tracked my car a lot and have never once felt and experienced any of the issues he brings up. Not to say he isn't right, its just what he likes and doesn't like with this car don't agree with my opinions.

The other factor is that when you read these guys making commnets on cars, the do often make a big deal ot of things that me and you as a normal, everyday driver living with the car, won't notice at all or need to notice.

So i take most reviews of cars, good and bad with a pinch of salt and just make my own opinion when i get the car. Im convinced i will love it, but if i really don't, i'll buy an RS4 and wait till the RS5 comes.

Thanks

Chris

ps - is it just me or have all the mags reviewed it as an RS5 rather than an S5 ?
pps - where is the S5 Flag ? :bye:

Yes, you are correct. Most say that it isn't as good as the RS4 is. But it can't because it isn't an RS5. In other words, they expect an S5 to be as good as an RS4. Others have also said that it isn't as sporty as a TT, again not the same thing. Should get much more favorable reviews when compared to similar coupes.

I had a half hour in one a month back, Only thing I found to fault the car was that it felt like it was 1000 rpm short of the redline away from being an RS4.

It's got the same sort of feel as the RS4, it feels light - most unlike an S4, perhaps some think it's too light but I think the RS4 feels similar, it's engine rips along like an RS4 - but as I said it's redline feels like it's cutting you out early: but it's great all the way up there, the gearbox is sensational, interior and build the same (although the CD player is kind of out of place for Audi).

I found it amazingly good - sure not right on the edge like an RS4 but not as far off as some of the magazines had it. You will probably love it. I did.

great choice

The difference between the S5 and the RS4 engine is that 1,000 RPM.
